September 24, 2017, was a sad day for Pig Bowl and Guns and Hoses. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, and residing in Sacramento, Gene Chapman was the only person who dedicated himself to and participated in this longtime charity football game for all 43 years. His love and passion for this organization and the football game enriched the lives of every committee member, player, cheerleader, friend and family member involved. Over four decades, he touched the hearts of everyone in this organization. He will forever be missed. It was his words that became our motto: “There are no losers in this game; charity always wins.”
We will miss you, Geno, now and forever! We have lost an amazing man who embodied what it truly means to give more than to receive. He gave so much of himself to those he helped, coached, loved and to his community.
He will never be forgotten!
